kathy, remember when we worked in that historic mansion on the property of the convention center? There was an incident where furniture had moved one night and Gary and I saw smoke from the chimney? Not sure if you were with us in the last instance. Do you recall those or any others?
Yes, the Lake Mansion. It’s now been moved to the corner of Arlington and Court Streets. In my book, I wrote about the furniture being moved and I think about Gary hearing the footsteps running up the stairs and Lonnie seeing the front door move and someone there–but it had been snowing and there were no tracks in the snow….I don’t remember the smoke in the chimney, though. Interesting stuff–I don’t even know if that chimney or hearth would’ve been able to handle a real fire.
I spoke to the executive director for VSA (who now occupies the mansion) a few months back. She says no one in her staff has experienced any weird activity. I find that strange, since almost everyone that worked there with the RSCVA had a story to tell. So good to hear from you. We have a Virginia City ghost hunt class coming up Sept. 29…you should come and join us! I’d love to see you. Here’s the class information link, in case you’re available: http://truckee.augusoft.net/index.cfm?method=ClassInfo.ClassInformation&int_class_id=16469&int_category_id=8&int_sub_category_id=80&int_catalog_id=0
Take care and hope to see you soon! If you ever get near Reno–holler. Perhaps we can meet somewhere.
