My transcendent night with the spirits in the Goldfield Hotel opened my third eye. Suddenly, I found myself receiving divine messages, and started seeing and hearing energies.
I thought I’d lost my mind. But even worse, I’d believed I was destined for hell.
Why? Because a church I’d once belonged to preached the evils of psychic abilities and interacting with ghosts. Their main justification to their teaching was the Bible’s Isaiah 8:19, which reads:
“When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” (New International Version)
I couldn’t understand why God had put me in this horrible position.
I hadn’t wanted to visit the Goldfield in the first place. Circumstances (including my boss telling me to go) had pressured me into going. So why would I be punished for it?
It didn’t take long to recognize that my newfound skills were a gift from God. The blessings started coming in and I found my relationship with the Great I Am was more tangible than it had been before.
Receiving psychic gifts were a part of my spiritual destiny.
Being more open to the Most Divine and the energies around me lessened my fears of the unknown and helped me to fully respect God.
It took years of prayer and meditation for me to figure out what Isaiah 8:19 really meant.
And this is what I believe:
- This passage indicates that it’s possible to interact with the dead. It doesn’t say we should avoid contact with these spirits, just not to consult with them for divine advice.
- The Holy Spirit connects all life; this is the true source of psychic abilities.
- When we tap into the Holy Spirit/our sixth sense, we open a direct channel to “inquire of our God.”
- We do not need an intermediary to interact with the Great I Am or divine emissaries, such as angels.
I do believe that Isaiah 8:19 conveys the need for caution and discernment. After all, the Old Testament is filled with prophets (including Isaiah) sharing the messages that they received intuitively.
Our psychic abilities should not be used as an excuse to eschew responsibility for our own decisions. Instead, they’re tools to help us grow spiritually and strengthen our relationship with the Universal Power.
There is no reason God wouldn’t continue to impart wisdom when we’re open to receiving it.
In the New Testament, the apostle John advocated discernment over ignoring energies: “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1 NIV)
Balance and intention are important in every aspect of our lives, and psychic ability is one of those areas. Use this sense for your highest and greatest good, and you will reap blessings.
