We are souls experiencing life within a physical shell and the demands of a 3-D world. We come from a place where we’re not limited by physicality. Living on Earth grows us in ways that are impossible without bodies.
Our material existences present us with the novelty of experiencing physical death; fulfilling the immediate needs of our bodies; and realizing the fragility of these shells. Our earthly lives can get even more complicated when we must work within a society that values wealth, fame and possessions.
However, having a body isn’t all limiting: it allows us to be part of the physical world, richly experiencing touch, scents and flavors. There is strength and humility in being a part of nature and witnessing the diversity of creation. When we perform acts of kindness and love, we strengthen our unity with all.
Balancing our duality
Our lives here require us to balance our spiritual and physical sides. We need to care for our bodies as this is the only way to fully experience the joys and challenges of living on Earth. It’s also important to nurture our spiritual selves to strengthen our frame of mind, stay in contact with the heavenly realm, and maintain the ability to find peace and love in the darkest of times.
While our hearts are the main conduit to the divine, our minds are sometimes engaged in putting our spiritual experiences and knowledge into words. The act of using the physical to stress the spiritual reinforces these lessons and messages, makes it easier to share what we’ve learned and grows our souls more rapidly.
Our hearts connect us to the divine
I’ve been asked why I believe the divine communicates to us through our hearts instead of our minds. After all, many people (including me) have spiritual insights pop into our heads. However, I believe everything comes through our spiritual center—the heart—first. Our souls reside in our hearts, the spiritual seat of our being.
Our hearts serve as a bridge between the spiritual and the physical. Love resides there. Our hearts are pure, giving more meaning to our lives.
When we listen with our hearts, we listen to what the Great I Am wants us to know. When we take direction from our hearts, we starve the mind-based traits of insecurity, greed and fear of their power.
When we nurture our hearts, we maximize our spiritual abilities:
- fostering awe for the Most Loving,
- making it easier to rely on faith,
- honing our psychic/prophetic abilities and
- recognizing divine guidance.
There are times when our minds haven’t translated our spiritual experiences. On those occasions, we understand the knowledge given to us, but we have no words to describe it.
Communing with the #divine (God, angels, guides and our heavenly support teams) gives us a break from life’s physical demands. We know something greater than us exists and that the Most Loving is always present and available to assist us. It’s in this connection that we find and experience unconditional love.
When we lead with our minds
When we ignore our heart’s promptings, we stay stuck in our minds, placing a barrier between us and the heavenly realm. As the brain is firmly based on helping us navigate the material world, we are more likely to stay angry, frustrated, stressed and worried. The mind concerns itself with societal demands, peer pressure and the need to survive this dog-eat-dog world.
That’s why we’re on Earth. To work within a physical framework where there are times that love feels non-existent. The heart helps us to make the right choices to encourage our soul’s expansion and to assist others in meaningful ways.
Our heart is the compass pointing us in the right direction. Let’s listen to it.
