As our spiritual awareness deepens, we welcome heaven within ourselves and our earthly existence. We feel a bond to all creation. When we connect to the Great I Am, we experience unconditional love. This leads to our personal rapture where we welcome bliss into our existence.
What do some think The Rapture means?
Some Christians see The Rapture as open to those who adhere to their specific practices. Everyone else is doomed. They see The Rapture as an external worldwide event where they are raised to paradise while others are left to endure The Apocalypse, a war against good and evil.
For me, The Rapture is an internal blossoming
The Rapture is open to all humanity, regardless of their spiritual belief systems. A time when we become immersed in the Great I Am’s unconditional love and realize that all aspects of our natural world (humanity, wildlife, ecosystems) are connected by the Most Divine’s spark of creation. We understand the need to foster kinship with all and to care for the Earth that gives us this rich physical existence.
We become inspired, challenging the material world’s priorities. One where we’re part of the greater creation and everyone is equal. When we experience this connection, it’s easy to appreciate, respect and accept others as they are.
There is no “us versus them”
A difficulty I’ve always had with how some think about The Rapture is that it fosters elitism. “We’re better than others and that’s why we’re going to heaven.” So, with this reasoning, if you’re born in India and grow up in a Hindu-dominated culture and can’t relate to Christianity, God will doom you.
This makes no sense once we feel a deep connection to all. Why would the Most Loving, one who created every human being as a unique individual, reserve its unconditional love only to one group and banish the rest to Hell?
Here’s an exercise: For a moment, imagine yourself as a hand. A hand gathers and prepares food, expresses love through touch and allows us to steer our cars as we drive to work. Ask yourself what else does a hand does. Now, imagine your neighbor is a foot. They keep the body upright and allow us to walk and move forward. Think about other ways a foot contributes to the whole. A foot is not less important than a hand. Both work for the benefit of the entire body. Humanity is a large organism, comprised of people with various talents and personalities, fulfilling needs of the whole.
While we are unique creations, we share the responsibility to uplift the whole. The whole represents humanity, Earth and the heavenly realms, since our soul growth and actions ripple across all dimensions.
Revere our sacred unity and bring a bit of heaven into the physical realm
In my version of The Rapture, we cultivate heaven within us. When we listen to the Most Divine’s prompts (intuition) and act on them through love, we deepen our connection and respect for all. Let’s welcome the Creator to work through us to refresh our kinship with all.
6 Tips to move closer to your spiritual rapture
- When you lash out at others, you harm yourself. You consume the hostility you’ve shown them. Just like love ripples across the continuum, so does negativity.
- Get beyond the need to be the one who’s always right. Open your mind to different ideas and beliefs. Follow what speaks to your heart and honor someone else’s ability to do the same.
- Life is not a competition. Honor everyone’s journey and the progress they’ve made. While some may be closer to their spiritual destination than you, others are just starting.
- See beyond your differences with others. Our differences are minimal compared to our shared needs and desires. We function better when we support and empower each other.
- Remind yourself that you’re never separate from nature and humanity. What you do impacts the well-being of the planet, your family, your coworkers and so on. Strengthen your awareness of this connection by enjoying what others have made (such as music, art and dance) as well as the creations you’ve given birth to. Spend time in Mother Nature, God’s true tabernacle. Cuddle a pet. Feed wild birds. Take the time to listen to someone who’s struggling.
- Create a contemplation/spiritual practice that speaks to your heart. Chant. Meditate. Sing. Read sacred texts and inspirational stories. Infuse gratitude with contemplation to enrich your spiritual journey.
It is in our power to create bliss in this physical realm, while minimizing divisiveness.
As always, my blog posts share my truths and the spiritual lessons I’ve learned. This doesn’t mean that they must be yours. I honor your journey and respect your individuality. I encourage you to seek a relationship with The Divine that feeds your heart and soul.
